5 Interior Design Trends Shaping Indian Workspaces in 2025

The New Indian Workspace: Designed for People, Not Desks

The Indian commercial interior design landscape has undergone a seismic shift since 2020. The pandemic-era experiment with remote work has permanently altered what employees expect from their offices — and progressive Indian businesses are responding with some of the most thoughtful, human-centric workspaces the subcontinent has ever seen. Here are the five defining trends reshaping office interiors across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in 2025.

1. Biophilic Design: Bringing the Outdoors In

Biophilic design — the practice of integrating natural elements into built environments — has moved from a niche architectural concept to a mainstream office requirement. In 2025, we're seeing it expressed through living green walls, abundant natural light planning, water features, and — critically — natural-material flooring. Engineered wooden flooring and indoor artificial turf installations are the two most requested elements in biophilic office briefs we receive. The research is unambiguous: exposure to natural materials in the workplace reduces cortisol levels and increases sustained attention.

2. Activity-Based Working (ABW) Zones

The fixed desk is dying. ABW environments offer employees a range of settings — focus zones, collaborative hubs, social lounges, and private booths — and employees choose where they work based on the task at hand. Each zone requires its own flooring specification: carpet tiles with acoustic underlay in focus zones, durable LVT in social areas, and comfort underlay beneath carpet in lounge spaces. At Decko Floor, we increasingly work on zone-by-zone flooring strategies rather than single-specification projects.

3. Warm Colour Palettes Replacing Grey

The era of the grey office — grey carpet, grey desk, grey partition — is definitively over. 2025's leading workspaces are warm, textured, and layered. We're seeing terracotta tones, warm taupes, dusty greens, and natural jute hues dominating commercial interior palettes. This extends to flooring: warm oak-toned engineered wood, terracotta-patterned LPT tiles, and berber-style carpet tiles in natural fibre tones are all seeing significant specification increases.

4. Wellness-First Specification

WELL Building Standard certification is increasingly becoming a client requirement rather than a differentiator. This has direct implications for flooring: materials must be low-VOC, phthalate-free, and contribute to improved indoor air quality. Our LVT range meets FloorScore and REACH compliance standards, and our acoustic underlays carry the GREENGUARD Gold certification. Specifying wellness-certified flooring is no longer optional for organisations pursuing WELL or LEED certification.

5. Hospitality-Inspired Reception Experiences

The reception area has become an extension of a company's brand identity — a curated first impression that must convey values, culture, and aspiration within seconds. We're seeing reception floors treated as signature design elements: large-format stone-effect LPT tiles with custom inlay patterns, statement carpet installations with brand colour weaves, and dramatic transitions between materials that guide visitor flow. If your reception floor is generic, your brand story begins on the back foot.
